Thanksgiving Dinner and the Order of Precedence

Direct Experience with Thanksgiving dinner and the Order of Precedence:

A family meal gathering is an opportunity to recreate the family energy field we were born into. There is a natural order or progression to the creation of this field of consciousness. The Order of Precedence, one of the three Orders of Love in Family Constellations, means that whoever came first takes the first seat, and those who came next follow in birth order. (Inclusion and Balance are the other two Orders of Love.)

When creating a family of origin constellation, the mother stands next to the father on his left side. The children stand next to her on her left side in birth order, how each came into the family (the Order of Precedence). This is your family’s natural order. If you are planning on Thanksgiving dinner together, first think about the Order of Precedence, and then consider how other family members joined the family: in-laws, children, grandchildren, etc. Practice setting up the seating arrangement beforehand until it feels right to you.  Invite your guests to sit in the Order of Precedence.
